BDR: Trenitalia’s new Digital Regional Tickets

Trenitalia’s new Digital Regional Tickets (Biglietto Regionale Digitale in Italian) guarantee maximum flexibility when traveling in Italy by train. What are the new features?

✅ You’ll need to check in to validate your Digital Regional Ticket. You can check in via the Trainline app or website, or via the email confirmation you’ll receive after purchase.

✅ Check-in will be open from midnight on the day of departure.

✅ You can change the date and time of your ticket until 23:59 of the day before your trip.

✅ On the day of travel, you can change the departure time an unlimited number of times until you complete the check-in.

❌ Once your check-in is completed, you won’t be able to change your ticket.

When will the new check-in system be applied to Trainline customers?

The new check-in system will be applied to standard-fare tickets (Ordinaria in Italian) purchased from 1st November 2023 onwards.

Learn how to validate your regional ticket bought with Trainline.

Go to the Trainline app or website and head to ‘My Tickets’. Then tap ‘Check-in and tickets’. Alternatively, tap ‘Continue on the app’ or ‘Continue on web’ from the email confirmation to go straight to the Check-in page.

Tap ‘Check-in’ in the bottom left corner of your screen.

Select the ticket you need to validate and tap ‘Next’. This way, your check-in will be completed – you will see ‘Validated’ below the barcode, meaning that your ticket will be valid for travel. 🥳

To view your validated ticket, go back to ‘My Tickets’ and tap ‘Check-in and tickets’.

Please note that every passenger associated with the booking will need to check in. Each passenger must check in for each journey. In addition, the PDF ticket you’ll receive via email immediately after purchase is not valid for travel – you need to complete the online check-in for your ticket to be valid.
