Most hotel visitors choose to arrive on foot from Bagni di Masino, a city that can be reached from the Morbegno train station by the local bus line A20.
To visit the Omio mountain hotel it's best to travel by train to Morbegno station, located in the province of Sondrio, which is on the route of the line that goes from Lecco to Tirano. The medium-sized station of Morbegno has seven tracks through which Trenitalia regional trains pass, arriving from the stations of Milan Central, Sondrio, Olgiate, Varenna, Colico, Dervio and Sesto San Giovanni every 20 minutes.
Once in Morbegno, you can take the local bus line A20 that goes to Bagni de Maino, from outside the station on Via Franco Ghislanzoni. The bus makes 16 stops and you'll need to get off at the last one – Val Masino-San Martino on Via Bagni 1. The A20 bus service runs from Monday to Saturday from 08:10 to 18:10 and on Sundays from 08:10 to 15:50.
Once you arrive in Val Masino the adventure begins. There are several routes, all well marked, that lead from Bagni di Masino to the Omio refuge. All the routes are low difficulty and can be easily completed by children. The average journey time is two hours.
Omio is very popular as it's in an ideal position to reach other famous valleys such as Val Codera, Val Merdarola and Val dei Ratti. The spectacular landscapes and peaceful atmosphere make it the perfect destination for a day trip with friends or family, or to "unplug" from the chaos of the city.
