How to get to Ciampino Airport by train

Thanks to Ciampino Airlink, the new combined train + bus service offered by Trenitalia, you can now travel between Roma Termini and Ciampino Airport more quickly and avoid traffic. So how does it work? A regional train will take you to nearby Ciampino train station, from where you can then get the bus to the airport – the total journey time is about 39m and the bus stop is just a few metres away from the airport entrance.

It’s also easy to travel to Ciampino train station from Napoli Centrale. The journey from Napoli Centrale to Ciampino takes around 1h 45m, with the first train departing from Naples at 05:10 and the last one at 20:07.

If you’re travelling from Florence, there are 40 daily trains from Firenze Santa Maria Novella to Ciampino Airport. The journey lasts about two hours, with the first train leaving at 05:45 and the last one at 20:38.

As Ciampino Airport doesn’t have its own station within the building, the closest train station is Ciampino train station. Situated just 5 km away from the airport, this station is served by regular Trenitalia regional trains. Other nearby train stations include Velletri, Albano Laziale, Frascati and Cassino.

From Ciampino Airport you can easily reach Rome city centre by taking one of the following buses:

  • Terravision – buses depart from the bus stop n.1, right outside the Arrivals Terminal to Roma Termini. The journey lasts approximately 45 minutes.
  • Sitbus – buses run daily from 07:45 to 23:59 and get to Rome city centre in around 45 minutes.
  • Autostradale – buses run daily every 30-45 minutes and reach Rome city centre in just 30 minutes.
