Shipley Glen Cable Tramway is a funicular tramway (yes - it's a thing!) located in the wooded Shipley Glen near the village of Saltairethat. It is run by volunteers and has been recently restored. It’s historic too, and a much more enjoyable way of getting up or down than the paths! Funiculars have operated in Europe since 1862, and in Britain since 1875. This one opened in 1985.
It's easy to reach Shipley Glen Cable Tramway, in Saltaire, by train. Simply hop on a train to Saltaire station and then it's a short walk through the town from the station.
