Saltburn Cliff Tramway is a funicular railway that avoids the steep hill between the town and the North Sea seafront. It’s historic too, and a much more enjoyable way of getting up or down than the paths! Funiculars have operated in Europe since 1862, and in Britain since 1875.
It's easy to reach Saltburn Cliff Tramway, in Saltburn-by-the-sea, by train. Simply hop on a train to Saltburn station and then it's a short walk through the town.
