The Hornby Visitor Centre is, appropriately, easy to get to by train. The nearest station is Margate, and there are frequent trains from London Victoria and Charing Cross to Broadstairs and Ramsgate as well. There are taxis from all three local stations, but there is an easy bus option if you get off the train at Ramsgate. Here, catch the popular Thanet Loop bus service, and it'll take you right up to the Hornby Visitor Centre itself. The Thanet Loop bus service does also run through Margate, but from Cecil Square in the town, and that's a 0.5 mile uphill walk from the railway station.
The Visitor Centre is everything you'd expect from the world-leading manufacturer of model trains and scale models. It features rare products from the Hornby, Scalextric, Airfix and Corgi archives, and the history of Hornby’s iconic model trains from Frank Hornby’s early home-made toys in sheet metal, through the development of Hornby ‘O’ gauge and Hornby-Dublo too. Of course, you can get hands-on too... check out the epic interactive Scalextric zone, and get pushing those buttons to start the trains on the interactive model railways!
See the official Hornby Visitor Centre website for visitor info.
