Hastings East Hill Railway is a funicular railway that avoids a walk up the steep West hill between the town and the views and cafe on top. It’s historic too, and a much more enjoyable way of getting up or down than the paths! Funiculars have operated in Europe since 1862, and in Britain since 1875. It's one of two funicular railways in Hastings.
It's easy to reach Hastings East Hill Railway, in Hastings, by train. Simply hop on a train to Hastings station and then it's a short walk through the town from the station - a bit further on through the Old Town from the West Hill funicular.
