Folkestone Leas Cliff Lift is a funicular railway that avoids the steep hill between the town and the channel seafront. It’s historic too, and a much more enjoyable way of getting up or down than the paths! Funiculars have operated in Europe since 1862, and in Britain since 1875.
It's easy to reach Folkestone Leas Cliff Lift, in Kent, by train. Simply hop on a train to Folkestone Central station and then it's a short walk through the town.
