The nearest railway station to Coombe Hill Monument is Wendover, on the Chiltern Line. The walk from the station takes around 30 minutes along the Ridgeway National Trail and past the Bacombe Hill Ancient Monument. The walk alone is excellent and that's before you even reach the summit of Coombe Hill which at 852 feet above sea level is the highest viewpoint across the Chilterns. From the top, you'll enjoy extensive views over the Aylesbury Vale and even as far as the Cotswolds on a clear day.
Coombe Hill Monument itself is dedicated to the men from Buckinghamshire who gave their lives in the Boer War.
