Victorian pier with an amusement arcade, a variety theatre, a cafe and boat trips along the coast. The original pier consisted of a wooden jetty opened in 1856; a zip wire was installed in 2014, spanning between the pierhead and the beach.

Step-free category B station - This station has level access from the main car park to Platforms 1 and 2 (for most trains towards London Waterloo). There is level access from the bus and coach station to Platforms 3 and 4 (for most trains towards Weymouth) via a separate entrance. There are long and steep ramps between platforms - up to 1:8 gradient.
