It's easy to reach Birkenhead Priory by train. The nearest station to the Priory is Birkenhead Central, which is served by Merseyrail services throughout the day. However, Hamilton Square, Green Way and Conwy Park are all nearby. It takes just 10 minutes to walk from Birkenhead Central to Birkenhead Priory. Simply head east on Borough Road until you get to Wirrall Circular Trail. Follow this until you get to the Priory.
Birkenhead Priory is the oldest standing building on Merseyside. Its 1000-year history includes stories of royalty, the birth of a city, and religious life. As well as being an oasis of calm in an industrial landscape, it's a perfect spot for family days out, with plenty to explore in the ancient grounds. You could also choose to climb the 101 steps of St Mary's Tower for spectacular views out over the Mersey.
Visit the Birkenhead Priory website for opening information.
