In 2016, Angel Road gained the distinction of being the least used train station in the London area. It is situated in Edmonton, in an area populated primarily with industrial businesses.
Opened in 1840, Angel Road train station was originally known as Edmonton and renamed as Water Lane in 1849. It has been known by its current name since 1864 and is now operated by Abellio Greater Anglia. Plans to close Angel Road train station and upgrade it to a new station and transport hub serving the local Meridian Water housing development are on target to complete in 2019.
Currently, limited trains make the 16 minute journey from Angel Road to Stratford on weekdays and none at all at weekends. The fastest journey time to London Liverpool Street is 21 minutes. The two platforms at the station are accessed by steps and a footbridge and both platforms have a small sheltered seating area.
