About Murrayfield

With a capacity of 67,800, Edinburgh's Murrayfield stadium is the largest in Scotland, and is the home of Scottish rugby union. Murrayfield was opened in 1925, and fittingly enough the first game was against Scotland's oldest rivals: England. As well as being the home ground for all of Scotland's rugby union internationals, including the Six Nations tournament, Murrayfield is also the home of Edinburgh Rugby, the club side that plays in the Pro12 league with teams from Scotland, Ireland, Wales and Italy.
Although predominantly used for rugby union, Murrayfield has also been used for rugby league, football and American football, as well as for music concerts. Some of the most famous events in the stadium's history include concerts from U2, Madonna, and the Live 8: The Final Push event in 2005.
Rugby fans will find plenty of interest at Murrayfield even when there is not a game on, with tours held Monday to Saturday at 11am. The tour starts at the Scottish Rugby Store and includes the press and hospitality suites, the Royal Box, the changing rooms, the team tunnel and a chance to stand pitchside. Note that the tour is subject to change depending on events taking place at the stadium.
