About Kenwood House

Kenwood House is a former stately home on the northern edge of Hampstead Heath. Built in the 17th century, it was developed through the 18th century with the addition of an orangery, and the commissioning of classical architect Robert Adam, who added the portico and the famous library interior, with its delicate pastel blues and pinks.
Kenwood House boasts a notable collection of artworks, from Landseer to Turner, and from Gainsborough to Reynolds. The Guitar Player by Vermeer is a trademark blend of playfulness and intimacy, and Rembrandt’s Self Portrait with Two Circles is one of the masterworks of his later years.
Wander through Kenwood estate’s attractive landscaped gardens, with sculptures by Henry Moore and Barbara Hepworth, and the ancient woods with the largest Pipistrelle bat roost in London. Beyond the woods lies the wonderful Hampstead Heath itself – a morning spent enjoying the artworks, interiors and gardens of Kenwood, followed by an afternoon picnic on the heath, makes for a perfect London day out.
There are family activities available, with Mac’s Kenwood trails perfect for 5-11s, and a dedicated family zone in the Orangery. The Brew House Cafe serves full lunches and the Stewards’ Room serves takeaways, and there are two gift shops.
