Edgbaston Cricket Ground
There are no railway stations in the direct vicinity of Edgbaston Cricket Ground, so Warwickshire County Cricket Club has a deal with National Express coaches to run shuttle services between the ground and Birmingham New Street station on major match days. Birmingham New Street is a major railway hub, with regular services across the country to London Euston, Edinburgh Waverley, Glasgow Central, Penzance and Aberdeen, as well as numerous local and regional services.
About Edgbaston Cricket Ground
Opened in 1882, Edgbaston Cricket Ground in Birmingham is home to Warwickshire County Cricket Club – affectionately known as The Bears. With a permanent capacity of 25,000, Edgbaston is the second-largest cricket venue in England after Lord’s. As well as Warwickshire County Championship, one-day and T20 matches, Edgbaston is also a regular venue for England test matches, one-day internationals and Twenty20 internationals.
Adult tickets at Edgbaston for international matches start at £26 for one-day internationals and £31 for test matches, and these are available (with priority to Warwickshire CCC members) through the stadium website. A cheaper alternative to visit Edgbaston is to catch a County Championship or T20 match at the ground. Fixtures and ticket information for Warwickshire CCC are usually released in the December of each year. You could join one of the tours that, although not widely advertised, show you around the stadium before taking you to the visitor’s centre and museum in the RES Wyatt stand.
Edgbaston Cricket Ground is also used for various corporate events throughout the year as well as being the location for the Warwickshire CCC club shop. Out of season, this is open Monday to Wednesday, with increased opening hours during the summer months.
