About Duxford Flying Legends

It's time to pop on your leather jacket and goggles! The Flying Legends Air Show is held each July at IMW Duxford, and is quite simply heaven for fans of old school flying machines. It specialises in rare and vintage piston engine aircraft, showcasing them both on the ground and in the air. Each year around 50 classic aircraft take to the Cambridgeshire skies: you can expect the likes of 1930s Hawker Nimrods, P-51 Mustangs and Supermarine Spitfires, all restored to their former glory by passionate enthusiasts.

Whether you're a classic aircraft fan keen to learn from aviation experts, or just a casual visitor who wants to soak up the atmosphere, you'll find loads to do: sit in the cockpit of a Spitfire; enjoy a pleasure flight in an exquisite eight-seater biplane or a two-seater Tiger Moth; or relax in the 'Vintage Village', where you'll find traditional refreshment and entertainment. On top of that you can visit IMW Duxford itself, packed with displays and artefacts that put these superb aircraft in historical context. Duxford was the base for the first operational Spitfire squadron, so the setting couldn't be more appropriate - and the event culminates in a mass flypast that brings together all WWII fighters on display.
