Fiumicino Airport Station


The station Fiumicino Airport connects the airport with the Italian capital, Rome. Opened in 1990 it has 3 platforms that are used by the Leonardo Express trains which provide a high-speed connection to Rome. Fiumicino Airport station is also a stopping point for the Frecciargento and regional trains operated by Trenitalia, providing easy, convenient access to Florence, Naples and even Civitavecchia - the regional port and the embarkation point for cruises around the Mediterranean. 


From Fiumicino Airport you can reach:


  • Roma Termini in 32 minutes with either the Leonardo Express service or Frecciargento train. From Roma Termini, there are Frecciarossa and Frecciargento trains for Florence, Bologna, Milan, Venice, Naples and Salerno, as well as numerous intercity and regional trains throughout Italy.
  • Roma Tiburtina in 48 minutes by means of Trenitalia's regional train (with departures every 15 minutes on weekdays and every 30 minutes on public holidays) and Frecciargento trains. Trains for Roma Tiburtina also stop at Roma Trastevere and Roma Ostiense stations. From Rome Tiburtina station you can also catch an Italo high-speed train to Milan and Naples.
  • For further afield journeys from the Airport, you can arrive at Florence Santa Maria Novella in 2 hours and 14 minutes, Bologna Centrale in 2 hours and 59 minutes, Padua in 3 hours and 59 minutes and Venice Mestre in 4h and 15 minutes with 4 direct trains per day.


The Fiumicino Airport station building is equipped with services for people with reduced mobility and has a ticket office, a bar, a waiting room and a restroom. Outside there is a square with a car park and bus stops.


Leonardo Express Trains


The Leonardo Express is a stop service connecting Fiumicino Leonardo da Vinci airport to Rome Termini station with departures every 30 minutes and a 32-minute journey time. You can buy tickets for the Leonardo Express train on Trainline at no extra charge at the price of € 14 only one way.

Electronic tickets purchased on Trainline are already validated and must be shown at the exit of Roma Termini station via the turnstiles. At Roma Termini train station, the Leonardo Express train arrives at the platform 23 or 24. The first train of the day from Fiumicino Airport to Rome Termini at 06:23 (and from that hour it departs every 30 minutes at 06:53, 07:23, etc.) while the last train departs from Fiumicino Airport at 23:23 and reaches Rome Termini at 23:55.


Children under 4 years of age and children between 4 and 12 years of age (one child per adult paying) and small animals in an animal’s carry case can travel for free. On the Leonardo Express, you can take an unlimited amount of luggage of any weight and size. There are large spaces near the doors to accommodate luggage and the trains are also equipped with seats and bathrooms dedicated to people with reduced mobility.


Passengers of the Leonardo Express can access the "Leonardo Express" lounge, which is located between platform 24 and 25 at Roma Termini station, at a reduced price of € 10 (instead of € 20). The opening hours of the lounge are from 09:00 to 18:00 from October to April and from 08:00 to 20:00 from May to September. The lounge offers comfortable armchairs, free WiFi and a Skype room, a complimentary selection of snacks, espresso, drinks and afternoon appetizers and an info point where you can get information about visiting Rome and hotel bookings.
