Bridgerton season three: what we know

Though seasons one and two of Bridgerton were based on The Duke and I and The Viscount Who Loved Me, respectively—that’s books one and two in Julia Quinn’s series—season three will be based on Quinn’s fourth Bridgerton novel, Romancing Mister Bridgerton

In season three, the spotlight is on the romance between Colin Bridgerton (played by Luke Newton) and Penelope Featherington (portrayed by Nicola Coughlan), so prepare for “Polin” season, as fans have affectionately nicknamed the pair.

The first glimpse of what’s to come was revealed at Netflix's Tudum: A Global Fan Event, where Coughlan stopped by to share photos of the delightful pair. And on Dec. 25, 2023, Netflix released more photos of “Polin”, as well as of happy couple Anthony and Kate Bridgerton (played by Jonathan Bailey and Simone Ashley, respectively) to tease us about the upcoming season.

The series is expected to pick up from where season two ended, with Penelope heartbroken after overhearing Colin tell guests at the Featherington Ball that he would never court her. Netflix released a teaser trailer detailing the twists and turns season 3 will entail.

When is Bridgerton season three coming out?

Bridgerton season three, like season one and two, will consist of eight episodes in total. But this time, the show will be released in two parts: the first four episodes will be out on Netflix on May 16, 2024, with the remaining four episodes of the season out on June 13, 2024.

Why is Bridgerton season three taking so long?

Production for season three began in summer 2022, however, it’s unclear how much the writers’ and actors’ strikes in the US affected the release date of the show, as actors cannot promote their projects during a strike.
