High-speed trains in Italy

These modern trains stand out for their comfort, speed and reduced environmental impact. There’s no need to fly between Italian hotspots – simply book your Frecciarossa tickets, step on board and relax as you glide across the country.

Frecciarossa trains operate on the following routes –

• Turin to Salerno, with 115 trains per day stopping in Milan, Reggio Emilia AV Mediopadana, Bologna, Florence, Rome and Naples. 
• Venice to Salerno, with 26 trains per day stopping in Padua, Florence, Rome and Naples
• Trieste to Turin, with 48 trains per day stopping in Udine, Venice, Padua, Vicenza, Verona, Brescia, Milan and Turin
• Rome Termini to Rome Fiumicino Airport, with 4 trains per day
• Turin/Milan to Lecce, with 6 trains per day stopping in Reggio Emilia AV, Bologna, Rimini, Ancona, Pescara, Foggia and Bari.

Ticket prices depend on the class, travel date and number of seats available.

Base

Trenitalia Base tickets are standard full-price tickets – allowing you to change the date, time or class of your ticket as much as needed at no extra cost. For more information, check out our Trenitalia Base Fare Tickets page.

Economy

This is another cheap ticket option, but it’s more flexible than the Super Economy one – you can change your travel date and time only once before your departure. Learn more on our page about Trenitalia Economy tickets.

Super Economy

The Super Economy fare is the cheapest offered by Trenitalia – but also the least flexible. You can't make any changes to your booking or ask for a refund. Visit our Trenitalia Super Economy tickets page to find out more.

Both lounges offer free WiFi, newspapers, drinks and snacks, power sockets and travel monitors, as well as an information desk where you can ask for help in case you need to make changes to your booking. FrecciaLounge also provides a meeting room with an LCD screen, which can be useful if you're travelling on a business trip, as well as a more relaxing and wider space to enjoy while you wait for your train.

You can access FrecciaClub if you have CartaFRECCIA Argento and FrecciaLounge if you have CartaFRECCIA Oro or Platino, an Executive or Business Salottino ticket or a First Class/Business/Executive 10 journeys carnet.

More trains on the Milan to Rome route

104 Frecciarossa trains, 42 of which stop at Milano Rogoredo, are now running every day – and every 15 minutes during peak times – from 05:00 to 21:00.

If you're a CartaFRECCIA holder, you can wait for your train in total comfort at the SalaFRECCIA lounge in Milano Rogoredo, which is open from 06:00 to 21:30. 

Getting to the train station by car and not sure where to leave it? With your Frecciarossa train ticket, you can book your parking space at a reduced price at the Metropark parkings of Milano Rogoredo, Milano Porta Garibaldi and other stations.

Offerta Young

If you’re under 30 years old and have a CartaFRECCIA, opt for Offerta Young – this will give you up to 50% off the Base fare.

Offerta Senior

If you have CartaFRECCIA and are over 60 years old, you're entitled to Offerta Senior – you'll get up to 50% off the Base ticket, just like with Offerta Young.

If the FrecciaLink service is available for your route, it'll be displayed directly in the Journey Planner on our website or app. FrecciaLink bus tickets also allow free and unlimited changes before your scheduled departure.

The FrecciaLink service reaches the following destinations –

• Siena and Perugia from Firenze Santa Maria Novella station
• Matera from Salerno and Potenza stations
• Cremona from Brescia station
• Catanzaro from Lamezia Terme station
• Caserta from Napoli Centrale station
• Sorrento and Pompeii from Napoli Centrale in connection with Frecciarossa to / from Rome, Bologna and Milan on weekends
• Gallipoli from Lecce train station

In winter (usually from mid-December to 31st March), a FrecciaLink service is available to reach the mountain resorts, in particular –

• Ortisei, S. Cristina, Selva di Val Gardena from Bolzano in connection with Frecciarossa to / from Bologna, Florence and Rome
• Canazei, Moena and Vigo di Fassa from Bolzano in connection with Frecciarossa to / from Bologna, Florence and Rome
• Cortina D'Ampezzo from Venice in connection with Frecciarossa to / from Bologna, Florence, Rome, Brescia, Milan and Turin
• Courmayeur and Aosta from Turin in connection with Frecciarossa to / from Rome, Florence, Bologna and Milan
• Madonna Di Campiglio and Pinzolo from Trento and Verona in connection with Frecciarossa to / from Rome, Florence, Bologna (to Trento), Milan and Brescia (to Verona)
