What we wouldn’t give to have biscuits with the boss, slap the BELIEVE poster before a game, or have a pint in The Crown & Anchor during an AFC Richmond game.

Ted Lasso’s kindness and positivity came onto our television screens at a time when we all needed a little pick me up. It’s a feel-good show, through and through, which is why we’re not surprised that so many visitors make their way to Richmond just to embrace the good vibes.

It’s a bummer that we cannot dine at Sam’s restaurant or stumble upon Trent Crimm, The Independent, in real life, but the real-world filming locations for Ted Lasso are just as inviting.

So we ask you to be curious, not judgemental when you check out these Ted Lasso filming locations in Richmond and around London.

Diamond Dogs, Mount Up! Everything You Need To Know About Ted Lasso

Is AFC Richmond a real soccer team?

Don’t expect to see AFC Richmond out on the pitch when filming stops; this football club is a fabrication for the show.

Is AFC Richmond based on Crystal Palace?

AFC Richmond Greyhounds film on a football pitch that is home to the real football club Crystal Palace FC. Not unlike the Greyhounds, the Crystal Palace Eagles wear red and blue, and are a Premier League team that has faced the threat of relegation.

Where is Richmond?

Richmond is a town in South West London. It’s only 11 miles from the center of the City of London, which is a comparable travel time from Lower Manhattan to Coney Island.

What’s the best way to get to Richmond?

By train…unless you’ve got the keys to Nate Shelley’s Aston Martin DB11, that is. From London Waterloo to Richmond station, you’re talking about a ride as short as 15 minutes. Richmond station serves the Underground, the Overground, and the South Western Railway.

What is the pub in Ted Lasso?

The Crown & Anchor is the name of the pub Coach Lasso, Coach Beard, and AFC Richmond fans frequent in Ted Lasso. Tragically, Mae and her pub are both fictional, though a real pub in Richmond is used for exterior shots. The Prince’s Head is a five-minute walk from Richmond train station and worthy of a pint in its own right.

Filming Locations for Ted Lasso & Things to Do in Richmond

Ted & Coach Beard’s Daily Walk to Work

Real location: Richmond Green

Richmond Green is a perfect place to begin your Ted Lasso filming locations tour as it’s right beside The Crown & Anchor’s exterior, The Prince’s Head. After a selfie and a pint, head to the west side of the green to check out Richmond Palace and the Trumpeter’s House.

Ted’s Richmond Flat

Real place: 9½ Paved Court

As you wind back around Richmond Green, head back to The Crown & Anchor then turn down the pedestrian throughway, Paved Court. This is where Ted’s fictional flat is, though the actual address is 11A. We don’t recommend trying to enter, though you’re welcome to find conversation with the locals and Ted Lasso fans at Richmond Riverside Park along the Thames.

There’s plenty more to do in and around Richmond. You might not find Roy Kent or any other Greyhounds in Richmond Park, but you will find hundreds of deer. If you’re on a streaming-inspired vacation, then take the train from Richmond to Hampton Court. Within an hour, you’ll arrive near Hampton Court Palace where Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story is filmed.

Nelson Road Stadium

Real place: Selhurst Park Stadium

Nearest station: Norwood Junction

The home of the Greyhounds is an hour away from Richmond by train, south of London’s center. Selhurst Park Stadium is also the home of the Crystal Palace Football Club and you can explore the stadium on a guided tour.

AFC Richmond Practice Pitch

Real place: SkyEx Community Stadium

Nearest station: Southall

Whereas Nelson Road’s stadium is an hour southeast of Richmond, the faux AFC Richmond Practice Pitch is an hour northwest by train. The SkyEx Community Stadium has its own home team, Hayes & Yeading United FC. If you can’t attend a match, venture to other outdoor sites nearby like Minet Country Park or the Hanwell Zoo.

Regarding train travel around London, and to paraphrase the great Coach Lasso, it may not work out how you think it will or how you hope it does, but believe us, your journey will work out just fine.
