Standard

First Class

GWR offers First Class seating for those wishing to kick back and relax on their journeys. Enjoy comfy seats, quieter coaches and complimentary WiFi, snacks and light refreshments. First Class ticket holders also have access to the First Class lounges at Cardiff and Paddington.

Taking your bike on Great Western Railway trains

Planning a day out on your bike? Or cycling as part of your commute to work? You’re in luck. Taking bikes on trains in the UK is completely free.

Great Western Railway recommend that you make a reservation for your full-sized bike wherever you’re given the option. Booking a bike space is compulsory on their high-speed Intercity Express services.

There are also some stations where full-sized bikes are not permitted during Peak Times:

  • London Paddington: On services arriving between 07:45 and 09:45 and departing between 16:30 and 19:00 Monday to Friday
  • Reading: On services arriving from Wokingham between 07:45 and 09:45 and departing between 16:30 and 19:00 Monday to Friday

If you’re taking a fold-up bike on board there’s no need for a reservation, but you must be able to carry the bike and fit it in the luggage rack on the train.
