If we could stay at the same hotels as Tom Hiddleston in The Night Manager, then we’d probably say yes to infiltrating a billionaire’s illegal arms trade ring, too.

Released in 2016, The Night Manager was a six-episode series that won a handful of well-deserved awards — and ended way too soon.

Thankfully, it’s an easy rewatch; and one that you can binge from the comfort of The Night Manager locations and hotels around Europe.

Checking in with The Night Manager

Here’s what you should know if this spy drama slipped under your radar in 2016, including which The Night Manager filming locations are real hotels you can stay at.

Who is in The Night Manager?

If you’re sleeping on The Night Manager, you’ll binge it when you see who’s in the cast. Tom Hiddleston (Midnight in Paris), Hugh Laurie (House), Tom Hollander (The White Lotus), Elizabeth Debicki and Olivia Colman (The Crown), Adeel Akhtar (Murder Mystery 2), and Natasha Little (Black Mirror).

What is The Night Manager about?

The night manager of a hotel, played by Tom Hiddleston, gets involved in a world of espionage and international arms dealing when he’s asked to spy on a billionaire. This six-part series aired on BBC One before hitting US TVs on AMC.

Is The Night Manager based on a book?

Yes, The Night Manager is based on the book of the same name by John le Carré. Le Carré was a former intelligence officer for MI5 and MI6, and has written a series of spy novels. Many of his books were translated to the screen, including Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, A Most Wanted Man, The Constant Gardener, and The Tailor of Panama.

Where are the filming locations for The Night Manager?

The Night Manager filming locations are as intriguing as they look on TV — even if the Cairo hotel is actually a Marrakech hotel in Morocco. BBC’s Night Manager locations also included Switzerland, Spain, and England.

Where in Switzerland was The Night Manager filmed?

The Night Manager was filmed on location in Switzerland, specifically Zermatt. While the Cairo, Egypt, hotel (The Nefertiti Hotel) was actually the Es Saadi in Marrakech, Morocco, the Riffelalp Resort and Chalet Hotel Schönegg are real hotels in the Swiss ski town of Zermatt.

Where in Devon was The Night Manager filmed?

It wouldn’t be a British drama involving murder without a glimpse at the dramatic British coastline. The Devon location for The Night Manager is included in scenes that were shot on the Hartland Peninsula in North Devon, specifically at the Blackpool Mill Cottage.

Will there be The Night Manager Season 2?

Yes, if you’ve waited since 2016 to see if The Night Manager would return to our screens, then you’re in luck. The Night Manager Season 2 is confirmed with Tom Hiddleston reprising his role as Jonathan Pine. Word on the street is that a 2024 release is on the schedule, but we’ve waited seven years — so waiting seven more months for a 2025 release won’t feel as long.

The Night Manager filming locations for Season 1

Plan a trip to the BBC’s Night Manager locations in Spain, England, and Switzerland

Chalet Hotel Schönegg

Closest station: Zermatt

With views of the Matterhorn over delicious Swiss food, The Night Manager filmed in the restaurant of Zermatt’s Chalet Hotel Schönegg. Here, Hiddleston’s Pine and Colman’s Burr first meet.

Blackpool Mill Cottage

Closest station: Barnstaple

Not many trains run this deep into Devon, which is probably why it was such a great location for Tom Hiddleston’s character to get used to more unsavory activities on the down-low.

Riffelalp Resort

Closest station: Zermatt

Another dazzling hotel in Zermatt, Riffelalp Resort also stood in for the fictional Meisters Hotel where Burr and Pine met.

The Night Manager Mallorca locations

How to get there: fly into Barcelona, hop the Barcelona metro to Drassanes, and walk to the port and catch the ferry to Mallorca. The largest of Spain’s Balearic Islands has a train and metro, but you may need a cab or bus to get to these The Night Manager Mallorca locations.

Hospes Maricel

While you seek out these The Night Manager locations in Mallorca, you can stay at the Hotel Hospes Maricel & Spa. Located in Palma, this 5-star hotel’s restaurant was staged to look like a hotel restaurant in Monaco

Ca’s Patró March

This restaurant on Mallorca’s northeastern shoreline is where Laurie’s character Roper dined.

Sadrassana

Another fabulous restaurant in Mallorca, Sadrassana cosplayed as a restaurant set in Madrid

Palau March

Taking a transformative approach like Sadrassana did, the Palau March’s courtyard pretended to be a hotel exterior in Istanbul.
