Is there anything more romantic than a walk along the canals of Venice? Stopping for coffee in St Mark’s Square, maybe even taking a trip on a gondola. But we think we can make your trip even more lovey-dovey by adding a visit to the home of Romeo and Juliet.
At less than an hour away, there is no reason not to indulge your inner romantic, and there is nothing more charming than getting there by train – after all, you can’t stare into each other’s eyes if you’re meant to be watching the road, and there’s not much heartfelt adoration about the panic of airport security. ÖBB, Italo and Trenitalia trains can get you to Verona, so all you have to worry about is reciting your lines for when you declare love from Juliet’s real-life balcony. Ready for romance?
