Forget about driving and take a direct train from Salerno to Pompeii – you’ll get from city centre to city centre in no time at all! The average journey time by train between Salerno and Pompeii is 41 minutes, with around 33 trains covering a distance of approximately 15 miles (24 km) every half an hour every day.
To get to Pompeii from Salerno by train, head to Salerno’s main train station – it’s in the old city centre – and board one of Trenitalia’s regional trains going to Pompeii. You’ll arrive at Pompeii train station, which is also in the town centre and is only 10 minutes away from the ruins.
