Traveling from Bologna to Naples with Italo

After having a great time in Bologna with our friends, it was time for my sister and I to head back to Naples. For our return journey, we travelled in Italo’s Smart Class.

Getting to Bologna Centrale station and boarding our train

Getting to Bologna Centrale station from the city center is quite convenient. You can either hop on one of the local buses available or have a nice walk. It only takes around 15 minutes to get from Piazza Grande in the city center to the station on foot, so we decided to walk to make the most of Bologna’s unique atmosphere.

Once we got to the station, finding our train was pretty easy. We simply checked the departure board and followed the signs to the escalators downstairs to get to our platform.

The train journey from Bologna to Naples

Italo luggage storage

The train journey itself was quite comfortable and enjoyable. Italo's Smart Class offers excellent amenities, including spacious seating, free WiFi, clean toilets, plenty of baggage storage, vending machines and at-seat power outlets to keep your devices charged. The only downside was the train’s interior temperature, which was uncomfortably warm at times.

Arriving at Napoli Centrale station

Once you arrive at Napoli Centrale station, you'll find yourself well-connected to Naples' city center and beyond.

The station is a bustling hub with various transport options available. You can easily hop on the metro to reach the city center within minutes. Alternatively, you can walk for about 15-20 minutes to reach some of the city’s main landmarks.

Additionally, Napoli Centrale offers excellent connections to other parts of the Campania region, making it convenient for further exploration. In our case, we simply walked for about 2-3 minutes to Metropark Napoli Centrale bus station and took the bus bound for Avellino to get back home.

Overall, despite the minor inconvenience of the heat onboard, we enjoyed our train journey. Traveling from Bologna to Naples with Italo is a convenient and efficient way to explore Italy's beautiful landscapes and vibrant cities.
