Insider tip: make sure you board a regional train operated by Trenitalia rather than the slow commuter Circumvesuviana if you want to enjoy a newer and less crowded service.
Getting off at Pompeii train station, you’ll find yourself in the town centre, which you can start exploring before heading to the ruins.
