The 152 Open Championship returns to Royal Troon in July 2024.  

What is the Open Championship? 

The Open Championship, also called The British Open, is one of the four major golf tournaments. Tom Morris (Senior and Junior), Arnold Palmer, Jack Nicklaus, Gary Player, Lee Trevino, Tiger Woods, Jordan Speith, and Phil Mickelson are some of the greats that have hoisted the Claret Jug in victory. 

When is the Open Championship? 

The Open Championship will take place between July 14 and July 21, 2024. Thursday, July 18th, will kick off the first round. The final round will take place on Sunday, July 21, 2024.  

Where is the Open Championship held? 

The 152nd Open Championship will be played on the Old Course at Royal Troon. The Royal Troon Golf Club is located in Troon, Scotland, roughly 45 minutes from Glasgow by train. Royal Troon has hosted 10 editions of The Open Championship in Scotland.

Who competes in the Open Championship? 

The Open Championship hosts a variety of the best golfers from around the world. Previous winners of The Open can play. Prospective first-time winners must first qualify by either ranking top five in the International Federation, receive a medical exemption, or place in an Open qualifying match like the Italian Open, RBC Canadian Open, or KLM Open. Thus far, Adam Scott, David Puig, and Dean Burmester are among those who have qualified through The Open Qualifying Series.  

Can I get tickets to the British Open 2024? 

Yes, you can still get tickets for The Open Championship 2024, though all of the released tickets have already been purchased. However, The R&A allows One Club Members to purchase tickets through the official resale platform.  

How to watch the Open Championship 

The 152nd Open Championship at Royal Troon will air on NBC and USA, as well as stream on Peacock. If you can’t watch it in person, we invite you to come watch it in a Scottish or English pub; perhaps even in one of the oldest pubs in London

Can I play Royal Troon? 

Yes, you can play the Old Course and the Portland Course at the Royal Troon Golf Club. You can purchase a day ticket that is good for one round on each course. Tee times are only available on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays, and are filling up fast for the 2024 season.
