Where is Amsterdam train station?

There are a handful of train stations in Amsterdam, not to mention other transit stations. Amsterdam Centraal railway station is closest to the city center and is most likely the one you're thinking of. Other train stations around the city include Amsterdam Sloterdijk near Holland Casino, Amsterdam RAI and Amsterdam South near Beatrixpark, and Amsterdam Muiderpoort near Ooster Park, plus Amsterdam Amstel and Amsterdam Science Park in Watergraafsmeer.

Where is Amsterdam Centraal railway station?

Amsterdam Centraal railway station is the largest train station in Amsterdam and is located at the head of Amsterdam’s medieval city center. From one side of the central station, you can head into the city center on foot or two wheels; from the opposite, you can hop a ferry and explore the underrated neighborhood of Amsterdam-Noord.

How early to arrive for Thalys train?

As a rule, it’s better to be too early for your train than too late. When arriving for your Thalys train, get to Amsterdam Centraal station at least 15 minutes before your train is scheduled to depart. Especially if you’re not aware that Thalys trains are now Eurostar trains

Are Thalys trains and Eurostar trains the same?

Yes, as of October 2023, Eurostar and Thalys merged into a single Eurostar brand. The routes will still stay the same for both rail carriers, with one big change: branding. You may know Eurostar trains by their blue color. Former Thalys trains will now sport the Eurostar name but will keep their red colors.

Can I get to Amsterdam Schiphol Airport from Amsterdam Centraal station?

Yes, the best way to travel between Schiphol Airport and Amsterdam city center is via train to Amsterdam Centraal station. Around 170 trains run between the airport and Centraal station each day, with an average journey time of 17 minutes. With tickets as low as $6.75, it’s a cheap and convenient way to make even a layover in Amsterdam worthwhile.

What amenities are in Amsterdam central station?

At Amsterdam Centraal station, you can find the standard amenities like luggage storage, 21 retail shops, and 24 places to eat and drink. The best thing you can do to experience Amsterdam like a local at Amsterdam Centraal station? Skip the Starbucks line and rent a bicycle from the station then pedal over to a local koffiehuis (which is different from the “coffee shop” that sells cannabis and hashish).

Is there a metro at Amsterdam Centraal train station?

Yes, the Central station metro stop is right outside of Amsterdam Centraal train station. You’ll also find ferry terminals, tram stops, and bus stops outside of Amsterdam railway station. Get to where you want to go fast or take advantage of the railway’s location in the city center to walk to Anne Frank Huis, NEMO Science Center, and the Red Light District in minutes.

What hotels are near Amsterdam central station?

There are loads of fantastic hotels in Amsterdam city center within walking distance of Amsterdam Centraal railway station. Sir Adam Hotel is one of the best thanks to its rooftop views of the city and vinyl library on deck. INK Hotel has won awards and is located in a former publishing house.

What museums and landmarks are near Centraal station Amsterdam?

One of the biggest perks about arriving at Amsterdam Centraal is that it’s within walking distance of Amsterdam’s best sites. Both the Anne Frank House and Amsterdam Tulip Museum are 20 minutes away. The Rembrandt Museum is the same distance, with a route crossing through the Red Light District. Even if you just want to people-watch on a budget, Amsterdam Centraal station is in a perfect location for whatever you want to do in the city.
