Trains from Barcelona to Bologna

• You can take your bags on board free of charge. If you have a small bag or backpack, you can place it under your seat.
• If you’re traveling with a larger bag, you can place it on the luggage racks above your seat.
• In most cases, there are no baggage size limits. However, if you travel in Italo Smart, your bags must not be larger than 75 x 53 x 30cm (29.5 x 20.8 x 11.8 inches).

While there’s no bar or restaurant car on Italo trains, you can use the vending machines on board to get snacks and drinks during your journey.

• Italo trains offer free WiFi and a free entertainment portal called ItaloLive, where you can choose from a wide selection of movies, TV series, live news, eBooks, games, music, and podcasts.
• You can also charge your devices thanks to the power outlets that are available at your seat.

• Children aged 0-3 travel for free if they don’t occupy a seat. If an adult travels with more than one child aged 0-3, they will need to pay for a seat.
• Italo Famiglia offer: children under the age of 14 travel for free in Smart and Prima class. The family must consist of a minimum of 2 and a maximum of 4 travellers, and include at least 1 adult. Children aged 0 to 36 months are not included in the count and may travel without an assigned seat, sitting on an adult’s lap. Adults in the group have 50% off the Flex fare.

• You can travel with a folding bike if it’s stored in one of the dedicated luggage racks.
• The transport of traditional bicycles is not permitted.

• Pets under 5kg can travel for free on all Italo trains provided they’re placed in a carrier or cage
• Pets over 10kg will need a ticket to travel with you. They must also be kept on a leash and equipped with a muzzle.

Priority seats for passengers with reduced mobility are available on Italo trains. They’re usually located next to an accessible toilet. All accessible toilets also have tactile and Braille signs.

Air-conditioning is available on all Italo trains, as well as power outlets at every seat.

With AVE, you can take up to three baggage items, each up to 85 × 55 × 35 cm and 25 kg (290 cm total). Musical instruments are allowed up to 30 × 120 × 38 cm in a case.

If you’d like to stretch your legs and grab a coffee during your journey, AVE trains have an onboard dining car. If you’d prefer to stay in your seat, AVE staff will pass through each car with a food and drink cart.

On AVE trains, you can take advantage of PlayRenfe – their free WiFi and entertainment pass. Giving you access to exclusive content and fast connection speeds, PlayRenfe can be downloaded from the app store on your phone. Once you’re connected, you can access the PlayRenfe portal, where you’ll find exclusive live sport, news, films and TV series.

Children under 3 years old travel for free with AVE, as long as they do not occupy a seat and have their free child ticket. Children from 3 to 14 years old can take advantage of a 40% discount on ticket prices.

On all AVE trains, each passenger can take one bicycle or scooter on board, as long as it’s folded and carried inside a case. Also, the pedals must be removed and handlebars turned 90 degrees. If the sum of the dimensions of the case is less than 180cm (70.8 inches), it's considered as hand luggage. However, if it’s bigger, it will be considered as special luggage (max dimensions 120 x 90 x 40 cm or 47.2 x 35.4 x 15.7 inches).

With AVE, you can travel with a pet as long as it weighs no more than 10 kg (22 pounds) and travels inside a cage or carrier that measures max 60 x 35 x 35 cm (23 x 13 x 13 inches). Your pet must have their own pet ticket, unless you’re traveling with a Premium ticket, in which case the pet ticket is free. Guide and assistance dogs travel for free.

AVE offer a free assistance and care service for people with reduced mobility. To request the service, passengers should contact AVE directly.

• In most cases, there are no baggage size limits. You’ll need to make sure that your baggage is compatible with the space available on board.

At the moment, a restaurant service is not available on Trenitalia's regional trains. However, you can take your own food on board so pick up some snacks at the station before you set off.

Trenitalia's regional trains do not offer an entertainment portal on board. However, you can make use of your internet data, as well as charge your devices thanks to the power outlets that are available at your seat.

Kids under 4 can travel for free if they’re accompanied by an adult and a seat is not assigned to them. Children aged 4-11 can get 50% off. Older children will need to have a full-price ticket.

• You can take your bike, hoverboard, monowheel or e-scooter free of charge if it can be folded and doesn’t exceed these dimensions: 120 x 80 x 45cm (47.2 x 31.4 x 17.7 inches).
• If your bike can’t be folded, you’ll need to buy a bike ticket or another Second Class ticket.

• Small pets can travel on Trenitalia's regional trains free of charge, if they’re placed in a carrier or cage of max dimensions of 70 x 30 x 50cm (27.5 x 11.8 x 19.6 inches).
• Bigger dogs are allowed on all trains if they have a ticket, they’re kept on a leash and equipped with a muzzle.
• Guide and assistance dogs are allowed on all trains at no additional cost.
