Trenord train timetable

Trenord run frequent services between the main cities of the region, including Milan, Brescia, Varese, Bergamo, as well as to and from Milan’s airports. Read on for more details.

Trenord train schedule

With the introduction of the new timetable, Trenord run over 2,300 trains per day in Lombardy. New trains from Milan Central station to Como and from Milan Central station to Chiasso have also been added to the Bellinzona - Chiasso - Como - Milan Central station route to provide more services during the busiest times.

Connections with Milan’s airports

You can easily reach Malpensa and Bergamo Orio al Serio from any city in Lombardy thanks to Trenord.

To reach Milan Malpensa airport, you can either take a regional train or the fast regional Malpensa Express, which can take you from Milan city centre to the airport in less than an hour. If you want to get to Bergamo Orio Al Serio airport, you can get to Bergamo station with Trenord and then take the bus to the airport.

Popular Trenord routes

Trenord operates mainly within the Lombardy region, connecting Milan with its hinterland and reaching all the main cities in the area. With Trenord, you can also travel on the cross-border routes between Lombardy and Switzerland, reaching Chiasso, Bellinzona, Mendrisio and Lugano in no time.

Trenord tickets

As all regional trains in Italy, Trenord also offer the Ordinaria fare, which has a fixed price based on the distance between origin and destination, and on the class. In the area of Milan and Monza Brianza (or STIBM area), the price is based on the number of zones you’re travelling to, a bit like the London underground system works.

Children aged 0-14

Children aged 0-14 travel for free on all Trenord trains if they don’t occupy a seat. Children aged 4-14 (or children under 4) that have a seat get 50% off the Ordinaria fare.

Seniors

Women over 60 and men over 65 are entitled to travel with a discounted fare ticket on all Trenord trains. The 20% senior discount will be applied to the cost of the Ordinaria fare ticket for the selected route.

Travellers with disabilities

Travellers with disabilities can apply for the annual "IO Viaggio" pass at a reduced price. They don’t need to pay for a ticket for their caretaker.

Groups

Groups of at least 10 people are entitled to travel at a discounted rate on all Trenord trains. The discount is 20% for adults and 50% for children under the age of 14. The discount applies to Second Class one-way tickets.

How to buy Trenord tickets online with us

  1. If you're on our website, enter your departure and arrival stations in our Journey Planner at the top of the page. If you're on our app, enter them in the Search tab. Don't know the name of the station? You can also search by city.
  2. Select the date and time you’d like to depart (and return if you're buying a return ticket), along with the number of passengers you’ll be travelling with.
  3. If you're looking for tickets on our website, hit Get times and prices. If you're using our app, hit Find times and prices to start your search.
  4. Select a time and the class you'd like to travel in from our search results.
  5. Enter an email to send your ticket confirmation to, along with the full name of each passenger you’re booking tickets for (the name must match their IDs).
  6. Continue to the checkout and book your tickets!

In order to claim a refund on your ticket, you must print off this form, fill it out and then scan it and send it to the following email address: rimborsi.trenord@pec.it

Trenord Milan

The suburban line of Milan connects all corners of the city and allows you to visit the capital in total comfort.

Which routes are served by Trenord in Milan?

Trenord operates 12 suburban lines in Milan, offering an efficient transport service that easily connects the city. The train from Cadorna to Bovisa calls at Milano Cadorna, Domodossola and Bovisa stations, while the service from Milano Porta Garibaldi to Greco Pirelli calls at Lecco, Chiasso and Rho.

The Passante Ferroviario is an underground infrastructure that connects Milan from the north-west to the south-east, passing through Porta Vittoria, Dateo, Porta Venezia, Repubblica, Porta Garibaldi and Lancetti stations. The main lines are from Saronno to Lodi, Treviglio to Varese, Milano Nord Bovisa to Pavia and Seveso to Rogoredo.

Which tickets can I use?

You can travel with Trenord in the Milan area with any train ticket to Milan, including Malpensa Express tickets. You can also travel with the ticket used for Milan metro.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is First Class available on Trenord trains?

Yes. Trenord’s First Class is quieter and offers more comfortable seating than Standard Class. If you’ve already bought a Standard Class ticket but you want to upgrade to First Class, you’ll just need to pay the price difference between the two tickets.

Can I travel with my pet on Trenord?

Yes, you can travel with your pet on Trenord trains at all times, except between 07:00 and 09:30 and between 17:30 and 19:30 from Monday to Friday. Small pets (maximum dimensions 70 x 30 x 50cm) are allowed on board all Trenord trains free of charge provided they’re placed in a pet carrier or cage. You can travel with bigger dogs if they’re kept on a leash and have a muzzle but you’ll need to pay 50% of the Ordinaria one-way ticket.

How much luggage can I take on Trenord trains?

In general, there’s no limit to your luggage when travelling with Trenord. However, please make sure that each piece of luggage does not exceed the maximum dimensions of 80 x 110 x 40cm.

Can I take my bike on Trenord trains?

Yes, you can take your bike on Trenord trains. You can fold it or carry it in a bag free of charge as long as it does not exceed the maximum dimensions of 80 x 110 x 40cm and occupies the space of a common piece of hand luggage. You can also take the bike directly onto the train but you’ll need to pay a €3 supplement ticket.
