České dráhy (ČD) is the national railway company of Czechia and the country's largest train operator. It runs long-distance, regional and commuter services across the country, connecting Prague with cities including Brno, Ostrava, Plzeň and Olomouc, as well as international destinations such as Vienna, Berlin, Budapest and Bratislava. České dráhy train types
České dráhy (ČD) operates both domestic and international train services to suit every type of journey. From local stopping trains to high-speed international services, each train type offers different onboard facilities and journey times.
Seat reservations are optional on most long-distance services but are compulsory on SuperCity (SC) trains. Local Osobní (Os) and Spěšný (Sp) services do not offer seat reservations.
Domestic trains
Osobní vlak (Os)
Osobní (Os) trains are local stopping services that call at every station along the route. They mainly serve regional journeys and usually operate every one or two hours. Most trains offer Standard Class seating.
Spěšný vlak (Sp)
Spěšný (Sp) trains are regional services that stop at fewer stations than Osobní trains, helping you reach your destination more quickly. Depending on the route, trains may offer First and Standard Class seating, air conditioning, free WiFi, and accessible facilities.
Rychlík (R)
Rychlík (R) trains are long-distance express services connecting cities and regions across Czechia. Most trains offer First and Standard Class seating, with selected services also featuring onboard catering, free WiFi, power sockets, and accessible facilities.
Rychlík vyšší kvality (Rx)
Rychlík vyšší kvality (Rx) trains are upgraded express services with more modern rolling stock and enhanced onboard facilities. Many trains feature air conditioning, power sockets, bicycle spaces, accessible facilities, and free WiFi.
Expres (Ex)
Expres (Ex) trains provide fast, comfortable connections between major cities with fewer intermediate stops than Rychlík services. Many trains offer First and Standard Class seating, free WiFi, power sockets, and onboard catering.
Long-distance and international train types
InterCity (IC)
InterCity (IC) trains are fast domestic services connecting Czechia's major cities. They offer modern onboard facilities, including First and Standard Class seating, onboard catering, free WiFi, and accessible facilities. Seat reservations are compulsory on selected routes, including Prague–Ostrava.
SuperCity (SC)
SuperCity (SC) is České dráhy's premium domestic service, operated by Pendolino trains. These high-speed services connect Prague with Olomouc, Ostrava, and selected destinations in Czechia and Slovakia. A seat reservation is included and compulsory for all passengers.
EuroCity (EC)
EuroCity (EC) trains provide comfortable international travel between Czechia and neighboring countries, including Germany, Austria, Slovakia, Poland, and Hungary. They offer First and Standard Class seating, onboard catering, and modern passenger facilities. Seat reservations are recommended but not usually required.
EuroNight (EN)
EuroNight (EN) trains are overnight international services offering seated accommodation as well as couchettes and sleeping cars. They're a convenient way to travel between European cities while saving on a night's accommodation. Seat or berth reservations are recommended.
Railjet (rj)
Railjet trains offer fast, comfortable international travel between Prague, Brno, Vienna, and Graz. They feature three travel classes—Economy, First and Business—as well as free WiFi, a restaurant car, power sockets and passenger information screens. Business Class requires a seat reservation.
What classes are available on České dráhy (CD) trains?
Whether you're traveling for business or leisure, České dráhy (ČD) offers a choice of travel classes to suit different budgets and comfort levels. Depending on the train type and route, you can choose from Standard Class, First Class, or Business Class.
Standard Class
Standard Class offers comfortable seating and great value for everyday travel. On most long-distance services, you'll find:

Can I take my bike on České dráhy trains?
Yes, you can take your bike on many České dráhy (ČD) trains. Dedicated bicycle spaces are available on selected services, although a bicycle reservation may be required on some long-distance and international routes.
When booking your journey, check whether your chosen train offers bike transport and whether you need to reserve a space in advance.
As bicycle capacity is limited, it's a good idea to book early, especially during weekends and the summer months.
Folding bikes can usually be carried free of charge as hand luggage, provided they are folded and stored safely throughout the journey.
