Etickets

Once you’ve bought your tickets, we’ll send you an email with your tickets attached as PDF files.

Simply print your PDF ticket at home, then scan it at the station or show it to train staff when asked.

For most tickets, it's super simple.

Go to the My Tickets screen and select Manage my booking. Everything happens online and takes just a few seconds. Changes and refunds may come with a fee.

1. Start by searching for your desired journey. Look for the eticket icon to make sure etickets are available.
2. Once you've selected the eticket option, add the name of the person travelling on the payment screen. Proceed to pay and follow the instructions.
3. Once you’ve bought your tickets, we’ll send you an email with your tickets attached as PDF files. The ticket will also appear under My Tickets in our mobile app.
4. Next, forward the eticket email to the person you’re buying it for. All they have to do is click the View tickets in the app button in the email. Alternatively, they can download the PDF attachment.

Good news – etickets aren’t locked to a specific device.

To view your eticket on another device, simply log in to the account you used to buy it.

You'll find the eticket under the My Tickets screen in the app, as usual.

If you bought the eticket as a guest, log in to the email account you used to buy it to view the eticket email.

If you can't find the email, check your spam or junk folder. You can do this on any device. 

If you lose your phone or can't see your eticket, please check the email account you used to purchase the ticket.

It's also worth checking your spam or junk folder, just in case the ticket ended up in there.

You can claim expenses for your etickets just like you would for any other ticket.

1. Just visit the My Tickets screen in the app, select Manage by booking, and tap on Send expense receipt.
2. We’ll create a ticket receipt containing all the information your colleagues in finance need.
3. You can then share the receipt with your colleagues via email, or send it direct to Concur or Expensify.

You can claim expenses for your etickets just like you would for any other ticket.

1. Start by searching for your desired journey. Look for the eticket icon for enabled routes
2. Once you've selected the eticket option, add your name on the payment screen, then proceed to pay and follow the instructions
3. Your etickets will be available to download instantly under My Tickets in the Trainline app. We'll also email your tickets as PDF files attached to the confirmation email.

An eticket comes as a PDF attached to an email, which you can either open from your email or in our app. 

Mobile Tickets are just like etickets, except you can only open them directly in our app and you need to ‘activate’ the ticket before you use it. Mobile tickets can’t be shared or used on more than one device.

If you need to, you can change your eticket to a paper ticket that you can collect at the station.  

Once you’ve changed your eticket to a paper ticket, it can’t be undone. 

Just tap Collect from station under Manage my booking on the ticket you want to collect from the station. 

Your mobile barcode will be replaced with a collection code. 

Leave a little extra time to print the ticket at the station.
