Greater Anglia First Class

Whether you’re travelling for work, leisure or a bit of both, Greater Anglia’s First Class option offers a good deal of comfort and luxury.

Travelling in First Class with Greater Anglia is a great way to kick back and cruise in style, though First Class carriages are only available on the busy Norwich to London Liverpool Street commuter route.

So, what do you get when you upgrade to First Class? Greater Anglia offers complimentary hot and cold drinks as well as snacks, including a selection of biscuits or Pretzels (Monday to Friday only).

To add to that, there are comfy and spacious seats onboard, a table at every First Class seat, free WiFi and quieter carriages if you need to work or fancy a snooze while you cruise (the quiet carriage is normally carriage B on the London to Norwich route).

Taking your bike on Greater Anglia trains

Planning a day out on your bike? Or cycling as part of your commute to work? You’re in luck. Taking bikes on trains in the UK is completely free.

You'll need to reserve a space for your full-sized bike on some of Greater Anglia's Intercity services, including between Norwich, Ipswich, Diss, Stowmarket, Manningtree, Chelmsford, Colchester, Stratford and London Liverpool Street.

There are certain times when full-sized bikes are not permitted on services into select stations, including:

  • London Liverpool Street: On trains arriving between 07:45 and 09:45, or departing between 16:30 and 18:30 Monday-Friday. Except for intercity services, if you have a bike reservation.
  • Stratford: On trains arriving between 07:45 and 09:45, or departing between 16:30 and 18:30 Monday-Friday. Except for intercity services, if you have a bike reservation.
  • Cambridge: On trains arriving between 07:45 and 08:45 Monday to Friday (excluding bank holidays)

If you’re taking a fold-up bike on board there’s no need for a reservation, but you must be able to carry the bike onto the train and fit it in the luggage rack.
