Trains to Shoreham

Trains to Shoreham village trundle through the valley of the River Darent and the charming Kent countryside, passing vineyards and hop fields before coming to rest in the station dating back to 1862. It is a quaint station, unstaffed since 1992. A concrete footbridge connects the platforms. Despite the fact that Shoreham was the most bombed village in the UK during WW2, it remains a visual spectacle boasting four pubs, a tearoom and a golf course. Highlights include the Aircraft Museum, commemorating the Battle of Britain, The Hop Shop at Castle Farm and the Mount Vineyard consisting of ten acres producing some award-winning wines. The latter can be found at the end of the pathway leading through the village. Away from the show-stopping tourist attractions, Shoreham remains a modest English village and the annual Duck Race, Village Fete and Heavy Horse Show are delightful countryside events.
