Trains to Hale

Hale is a pretty village in Altrincham, Greater Manchester, and trains come to a right in the heart of it. The station is situated on the Mid-Cheshire Line, just eight miles south west of Manchester Piccadilly, and was opened in 1862. The building is Grade II-listed, with decorative awnings, an old-fashioned signal box and a level crossing - it's like stepping back into the golden age of rail. The village itself is just as attractive, and the station's central location allows visitors to explore easily. It's only a short walk to the bustling retail hub of Ashley Road, where you'll find a wide range of shops, bars and restaurants. Dunham Massey, a grand 18th century hall, is just a short bus ride away - set amongst 250 acres of woodland, it's well worth the trip. Other highlights in the surrounding area include the Silver Blades ice rink and the Concorde Experience at Manchester Airport's Runway Visitor Park.
