Trains to Bath glide into the city alongside the gleaming waters of the River Avon, sweeping past the flowerbeds of Sydney Gardens, before pulling up in the heart of this UNESCO World Heritage Site. Bath Spa station was built in 1840 and designed by Isambard Kingdom Brunel, who always intended for the railway to blend in with the city's Georgian architecture. To this day, the station remains one of the city's iconic structures. In 2010, many of the original 19th-century features, from the Station Master's house to the arch vaults under the station, were returned to near-original condition, and in 2013 Bath Spa won Overall Best Station at the 2013 International Station Awards.

The Romans put Bath on the map when they built a temple to the Goddess Minerva on the site of Britain's most famous hot spring - 2000 years later and the Thermae Bath Spa is still an international attraction. Bath is one of the most unique cities in the world with top-notch restaurants and cultural goings-on at every turn. The opulent Bath Abbey, the luxury spa of the Royal Crescent Hotel and the two world-famous Palladian bridges, are all within five minutes' walk from the station. Train services to Bath Spa are provided by Great Western Railway with frequent services to Reading enabling fast connections to Heathrow and Gatwick airport. Alternatively, change at Bristol Temple Meads for Bristol airport
