Trains to Ashford

On timetables or tickets, you might see this station referred to as Ashford (Surrey) or Ashford (Middlesex) to distinguish it from Ashford International in Kent. While these days it’s officially in the county of Surrey, before 1965, it was in the now-dissolved county of Middlesex, and old habits die hard. On the Waterloo-to-Reading line, as it is, direct trains run through Ashford to and from Windsor & Eton Riverside and Weybridge. Staines, the next station westbound, connects with services to Reading. Feltham, the next station eastbound, connects with faster services into the capital. The station itself is right on Church Road, the main street in Ashford, where you’ll find all of the local businesses you’d expect – banks, bakeries, hairdressers, florists, cafés – plus several supermarkets and a library. It’s about four miles to the M25 and six to the M3.

Station details & facilities

Ashford station has two platforms. There is no step-free access between the platforms. Level access to platform 1 (towards London) is via a side gate from Station Road and to platform 2 (away from London) is via a footpath leading from Church Road. At the end of Station Road are cycle storage racks and a pay-and-display car park. Bus stops for onward travel are about five minutes’ walk away on Church Road or Woodthorpe Road.
