Airport Transfers from Birmingham Airport
Birmingham Airport terminal has excellent transport links to the English Midlands. Many who fly into this busy airport, choose to take the train to their final destination, saving both money and time. Located just east and a little south of Birmingham city centre, Birmingham Airport terminal is close to Birmingham International station.
A convenient and free Air-Link shuttle bus connects the airport to this train station. The buses run every few minutes, 7 days a week. Avanti West Coast and CrossCountry trains operate services from Birmingham International to Birmingham New Street station in the city centre. These trains run 7 days a week, every 15 minutes during peak times and every 30 minutes off-peak.

Getting to Birmingham from Birmingham Airport by train
Birmingham New Street is within easy reach of England’s Midlands and the rest of the UK. You can get direct trains to there from Leicester, Wolverhampton, Northampton, and Worcester. This central station also has excellent train links for passengers travelling from further afield. Trains also run directly to Birmingham International from Manchester, Bournemouth, Northampton, Coventry, and London.
From Monday to Friday, the train runs from 5:50 a.m. to 1:24 p.m. Trains start later and end earlier on weekends. From Birmingham New Street, you can easily access England’s Midlands and the rest of the UK. Direct trains run from Birmingham New Street to Leicester, Wolverhampton, Northampton, and Worcester. The train station also provides excellent links for passengers travelling further afield.
Direct trains also run from Birmingham International to Manchester, Bournemouth, Northampton, Coventry, and London. If you have a late flight or an early train journey, then there’s a Novotel hotel just opposite the Birmingham airport terminal. This is only one minutes’ walk from the departure lounge.

Things to do in Birmingham
Birmingham New Street is the 2nd busiest train station in the UK outside of London. As a result, it has plenty of restaurants and shops if you want to pick something up before you travel. Birmingham has the largest population in the UK outside of London, and so many call it Britain’s second-largest city. There’s therefore plenty to see and do.
Just 4 minutes’ walk from the train station, is the Bullring. Opened in 2003, this is one of the largest shopping centres in the UK and lies on the foundations of an old medieval market. Further out and in the other direction are the canals of Brindleyplace, a great location for exploring post-industrial revolution Birmingham.
For kids, the Thinktank Science Museum and National Sea Life aquarium are also within walking distance of Birmingham New Street train station. Further out, Cadbury World can take the family through the history of chocolate, reachable from Bournville train station. A trip to Birmingham isn’t complete without trying a traditional Birmingham curry. This can be topped off with a gin & tonic at the famous Jekyll & Hyde pub.
