Originally opened in 1892, Stoke Mandeville train station is located in the Buckinghamshire village of the same name. The famous Stoke Mandeville Hospital is not actually located in the village itself but situated around 1 km from Aylesbury station which is a 4 minute train journey away. Chiltern Railways trains from Stoke Mandeville station run approximately every 30 minutes either north to Aylesbury or south to London Marylebone.

Stoke Mandeville village has limited amenities beyond its post office and three pubs but close-by Aylesbury has plenty to offer visitors. Once alighting at Aylesbury Vale Parkway – 14 minutes from Stoke Mandeville train station – you can take advantage of a free shuttle service which runs to Waddeson Manor while local buses from Stoke Mandeville village itself bring other local destinations within reach. If something on a larger scale appeals the capital is just 51 minutes away with attractions such as Madame Tussauds, London Zoo and Regent's Park all within an easy stroll from London Marylebone.
