Smethwick Rolfe Street railway station is used by the town of Smethwick, roughly halfway between Birmingham and Dudley along the Rugby-Birmingham-Stafford Line. It was opened in the mid-19th century by the then Birmingham, Wolverhampton & Stour Valley Railway Company, though it was completely rebuilt 40 years later. The station has a history of community projects and for more than 30 years displayed a mural created by local pupils before being replaced by a new one in 2017. Today, the station and the trains that pass through are operated by West Midlands Trains and serve more than 500,000 people a day. It still has the original red-brick ticket office which is still in use between Mondays and Saturdays. There are two direct trains an hour direct to Birmingham New Street in 6 minutes and Wolverhampton in 20 minutes.

When you disembark at Smethwick Rolfe Street, there’s plenty of things to do. Take a walk around the nearby Lewisham Park, discover the area’s history at the Galton Valley Canal Heritage Centre or find out what’s going on at the Prestige Suite.
