Silver Street station on Sterling Way, Edmonton, in North London joined the London Overground, affectionately known as the Ginger Line, in 2015. The station dates back to 1864, but nothing remains of the initial structure, having been largely renovated in the early 1980s, then completely rebuilt after a fire in the 1990s. The station has superb transports links to Liverpool Street station. A tunnel underneath the A406 North Circular Road links the station to Fore Street with a bustling collection of shops and eateries.
Silver Street is a largely multi-cultural residential suburb with the Millfield Theatre and Pymmes Park two stand out highlights. A minute from the station, Pymmes Park has an ornamental lake, outdoor gym, playpark and sports pitches, perfectly placed opposite North Middlesex Hospital. A nine-minute walk away from the station, the hospital is also connected to the station by two buses, the half-hourly 419, which takes four minutes, and the quarter-hourly 444, which takes seven minutes.
