Rosyth railway station lies just a little south of Dunfermline across the Firth of Forth from Edinburgh. It was opened in the early 20th century by the North British Railway to help bring workers to the nearby dockyards. Today, it’s a busy little commuter station serving almost 800 people a day and is managed by Abellio ScotRail. It’s an unstaffed station with no ticket office, but there are self-service machines to buy them. Other facilities include modern waiting shelters on both sides of the tracks, digital displays with passenger information, and a step-free footbridge which connects the two platforms. There are two trains an hour direct to Edinburgh Waverly in 31 minutes and Dunfermline Town in 6 minutes.

When you step off at Rosyth, you’ll be within walking distance of several parks including the child-friendly Pitreavie Playing Fields. If you want to practise your swing, make a beeline for the Pitreavie Golf Club.
