Redland railway station lies in the heart of the northerly Bristol suburbs of Redland and Cotham around 3 miles from the city centre. It was opened in the late-19th century by the then Great Western and Midland Railways originally with two platforms. Over the second half of the 20th century, the Seven Beach Line went into decline and in the late 1960s it became an unstaffed station coinciding with a reduction in daily services and the closure of one of the platforms. It’s since bounced back in more recent years, and in 2005, departures from the station have been increased to 24 a day. It’s run, along with the trains that pass through, by Great Western Railway. There are no facilities for purchasing tickets, so they must either be bought online in advance or on board the station with the conductor. The beautiful red-brick Victorian station building still survives along the platform, but it is no longer used by the station. There are one to two direct departures an hour to Bristol Temple Meads in 13 minutes and Avonmouth in 16 minutes.

When you disembark at Redland, you’ll be just a one-minute walk from the Cotham Gardens, a beautiful place to walk the dogs or kick back in the hot summer months. If you're feeling active while you’re there, you could always practise your serve at the park’s tennis courts or swing by the Bannatyne Health Club.
