Northwich station sits on the Mid-Cheshire Line, providing services to Chester and to Manchester Piccadilly. The station also has a freight line behind platform 2 and a proposed line to serve Manchester Airport is currently under evaluation. Although Northwich station is a large building, there are few amenities. The main entrance is behind a petrol station and leads to a ticket kiosk on the concourse. The ticket hall steps out on platform 1 (Manchester) and a footbridge to platform 2 (Chester). There is also a barrow crossing directly across the lines, but passengers are not encouraged to use this. There is a coffee shop opposite the concourse and a large car park in front of the station.
