Trains to Newton-on-Ayr

Newton-on-Ayr Railway Station serves the neighbourhood of Newton on Ayr with regular Abellio ScotRail trains operating on the Ayrshire Coast Line. Trains from Newton-on-Ayr run with very good frequency, departing two or three times every hour in each direction (with three assured departures an hour on Saturdays). These services run to Ayr and Glasgow Central, calling at all intermediate stations. In the evenings and on Sundays, trains operate hourly.  

Although served by frequent trains and passengers daily, facilities at Newton-on-Ayr are rather basic. The railway buildings still located on the southbound platform are closed to passengers, and there is a small waiting shelter provided for customer use on platform 1. Open-air seating is provided on both platforms. As there are no ticketing provisions at the station, passengers should purchase their tickets in advance or from a guard on board the train. Train running information is provided via digital departure screens and automated announcements. There is step-free access to platform 2 only.
