Honor Oak Park station is in the London borough of Lewisham, in Travelcard Zone 3. A rail line passed through the area as far back as 1839, but it wasn't until 1886 that the local station finally opened. Today, Honor Oak Park is well connected, with direct trains to Whitechapel, Shoreditch, Canada Water, London Victoria and London Bridge. The station is operated by London Overground and Southern, and from 2018 Thameslink will also serve the station.
When the London Overground was extended to Honor Oak on the East London line in 2010, it had a profound impact on the area. Connections with the heart of the city brought more people to the southeast London suburb, and Honor Oak Park slowly but surely became a desirable commuter neighbourhood. The area has a strong community feel, with numerous independent shops, cafes and restaurants. As for green space, try Blythe Hill Fields, just east of the station, and Brenchley Gardens to the west.
