Trains to Helmsdale

Helmsdale Railway Station serves the village of Helmsdale with regular Abellio ScotRail services operating on the Far North Line. Mondays through Saturdays, four trains from Helmsdale call in each direction. Southbound trains continue from platform 1 to Dingwall and Inverness, while northbound trains run from platform 2 to Wick via Thurso. On Sundays, only one train operates in each direction.  

While the station master’s house still stands and is visible from the platforms, it is now in use as a private self-catering holiday accommodation. Passengers wishing to travel from Helmsdale may use the station car park and cycle storage ahead of their journey. Train running information is available via customer help points established throughout the station. Platform 1 has a waiting shelter with bench seating; on platform 2, there is a permanent waiting room with seating. There is step-free access to platform 1, but platform 2 is accessed only via stairs and footbridge over the tracks.
