Built in 1852, Grantham station lies to the west of this market town in the south-west of Lincolnshire. Situated on the East Coast Main Line, it connects passengers direct to London Kings Cross in just over an hour and Newcastle in two hours. It's also a hub for direct services to Nottingham, Leeds, Manchester, Hull and Norwich.

Grantham's town centre is around a ten-minute walk from the station, where you'll find a wide range of high-street and independent shops, bars and restaurants, riverside walks and parks, and the impressive Victorian Gothic Guildhall Arts Centre on St Peter's Hill, with a statue of the area's most famous son outside - Sir Isaac Newton. Nearby attractions include the romantic 19th-century Belvoir Castle (7 miles), the Restoration country residence Belton House set in a landscaped park and formal gardens (5 miles) and Newton's 17th-century family home, Woolsthorpe Manor.

Grantham station has four platforms and one entrance on Station Road. Express trains to London Kings Cross via Peterborough and Stevenage depart from platform 1, and services to the north of England and Edinburgh depart from platform 2. Platform 4 is for trains to Nottingham. Inside there's a cafe, and all other amenities are on platform 1. Access between platforms is via stairs or lifts and a footbridge. Outside you can find three car parks, a taxi rank and a drop-off point.
