Gartcosh train station was opened in May 2005 and is located on the Cumberland line, just under 8 miles northeast of Glasgow Queen Street station. Platform 1 provides services running eastbound toward either Cumbernauld or Falkirk. Services from platform 2 run westbound, stopping at Glasgow with most continuing onwards along the river Clyde to various stations. From Monday to Saturday there are a total of three trains every hour each way and on Sunday's this service is reduced to one train per hour.

An underpass connects the two platforms, and both of these have ramps for disabled access. If you follow the stairs down from platform 2, you will find a car park which is free to use for railway passengers. Gartcosh train station is unmanned, however, tickets are available from machines on each platform. There are no display boards or announcements at this station, so we advise to plan your route before arriving. If any assistance is required, there are help points on each platform.
