Castleford station lies in the rolling hills of West Yorkshire, just over ten miles south of Leeds. All services to the single-platform station reverse here, arriving and departing from platform 1.
The current station was built to replace its predecessor in 1871, and today operates regular services to Sheffield, Leeds and Knottingley. A new £6m state-of-the-art bus station was built adjacent to the train station in early 2015, creating a fully integrated transport hub for Castleford and offering regular, reliable transport links throughout Yorkshire and beyond.
The town of Castleford has recently undergone major regeneration, and today boasts a large 32-store retail centre, a wide array of pubs, clubs and restaurants and the largest indoor real snow slope in Europe – all within walking distance of the station. Castleford also has strong links to the world of fashion, with international fashion-house Burberry operating a factory in the town.
